Just qualified at the new 400 yard range.
In speaking with the President who was giving the instruction for the qualifying, it was a busy first few weekends for qualifying.
Today there were 6 of us
The new range cost about $350K, and is open without any logistics restrictions like the 600 yard (multiple people needed, everyone has to come and go at the same time etc.)
All distances are steel, 1, 2, 3, and 4 hundred yards. 3 and 4 have LED light indicators that'll flash back at you on an impact.
1, 2, and 3 have a large steel target, and a small steel targets - some have two small steel targets. I forget the exact size. They're looking at painting them from their white/black to an orange or blue, to help with visibility of the target in varying light conditions.
No one is allowed down range for any reason. Shoot the club steel only. No guests on the 400.
The rules are in place because of the insurance company - not because the club likes rules.
Qualifying was very easy and relaxed. As long as you have common sense, know how to use your scope, and can follow instructions/rules - you're gtg.
