What handgun is the easiest to make?

I don’t mean, “start from an 80%” but rather “start from a block of steel or aluminum”

just the frame, not the hammer and sear and barrel and stuff.

What pattern is the most forgiving of inexperienced/shoddy workmanship?

I imagine the magazine well is the hardest part to get right. (Without a shaper)

A single shot zip gun would be easy, but I don’t want one of those.

Mac 10/ Cobray M11 style guns can get welded up pretty Easy with minimum machine time,

Check out one of the Pakistani 1-person-arms-factory videos and make whatever the haji with the hammer, file and leaf-spring metal, is making.

I made a steel P320 frame. As far as handguns go, it has the fewest critical interfaces. As long as the takedown pin and FCU are located correctly, the gun will work. The slide only interacts with the FCU and there are no pins or pivots in the frame.

How'd you shape the magazine well? That seems like it would be tricky.

I kinda assumed that.
But hobbyist milling machine?
Or super fancy industrial multi axis machine?

I have a clapped out manual Bridgeport. The mag well was done with long reach end mills. It was not ideal. The mill got me close, then it was hand filing and sanding to refine it.

Nice. Now I'm thinking how I might do it. Start with a basic shape, then a reference surface (top where the slide rails will be) then do the mag-well based on that.

It looks like a ton of work. How's it shoot?

Very soft. It’s over 2 pounds loaded. I could have removed a lot more material from inside the backstrap. Shooting 150gr subs, it barely moves. I took all the measurements from that X5 grip module, so not incredibly precise. It was more of a styling/skills exercise than anything.
