I'm deciding between a 20" barrel with fibre sights or an 18" with iron sights.

I'm leaning toward the 20" but I understand I won't gain any velocity due to the increased barrel. In fact I lose a couple feet per second.

Pice difference is about $20 more for the longer barrel. Not something worth contemplating.

What do you guys think of these two options?

If it's for serious target shooting I would go with 20" for the longer sight radius and just a little more inertia to dampen the wiggling. If it's for fun, why add the weight and length? On my 10/22 I just put a Green Mountain 18" factory taper barrel on it, floated the barrel and it shoots as well as the bull barrel jobs.

with velocity in mind 20" vs 18" difference is negligible. I just did this same research for another 22lr gun and decided that 2 extra inches hardly worth it. however overall weight for me was a factor and i was trimming down weight whenever i could.

if weight is not a problem than as cockpitbob said

If I'm not mistaken, most 22LR ammo needs only 16 in to attain max velocity. Longer barrels offer a longer sight radius and more weight up front.
