10% Veteran's discount at Lowes

Lowes is offering a 10% discount to veterans through some time in July. They usually only offer this on the holiday, but this year started 6/27 and it may go past July 4th.

HD offers a 10% discount on 7/4.

This includes plain-old veterans: both companies have ongoing programs for active duty and retired.

I have been denied by home depot several times but I just spent $2k at lowes and they gave me the 10% discount. Home Depot said I had to have a service related injury to qualify.

If you bring your dd214 to the rmv, they can put a veteran label on your drivers license and that is good to go for most store discounts

lowes and home depot do 10% for vets year 'round, i had them put *Veteran* on my license at my last renewal and only have to show that to the checkout monkeys

Yeah never heard of that Veteran's license before, that's cool though.

I get 10% at Lowe's every time with my ID card. I had a troop there have this conversation though with an idiot cashier:

Troop: "I'd like the discount please."
Cashier: "You are in the military? There is no base around here."
Troop: "I'm a reservist."
Cashier: "A reservist? Do you really think you deserve a discount then?"
Troop: "I just got back from Iraq a few weeks ago."
Cashier: "Really? You don't look very tan."
Troop: "I'd like to talk to the manager."

The manager fixed it right away, and like I said, I've never had a problem getting it.

I thought that it varied from store to store. Some will only honor a valid military or retired ID, some will take a DD-214.
