1911 .45 conversion to .22 MA Compliant?

Wanted to ask as there is so many rules these days. Thought about getting a Kimber .45 to .22 conversion kit for my S&W 1911sc. Can I just buy one that is out of state and get it shipped to me? I was curious if it is considered a gun part like an upper on an AR. Do I need to get it processed through an FFL or is that not needed for the kit?

I bought my 22 LR conversion directly from Marvel, no ffl necessary.

You should be able to buy it on-line and have it shipped home. No license/permit issues.

Only the serial numbered frame of the gun needs to be transferred through an ffl.
