Hey NESers,

For you 1911 owners out there, here is a question: I'd like to get some new grips for my 1911 (commander size), to replace the stock wood grips that they came with (the wood grips just don't have enough "grip" to them). I've been taking a long hard look at two brands in particular, AlumaGrips and VZ Grips. I've read great reviews on each, but am still unsure, which way to go... [thinking]

Does anyone own grips from one (or even both!) of these manufacturers? If so, what is your opinion? And do you know of any local gun shops that carry these grips to "feel" them before I lay my money down?

Thanks for your inputs

Go to Gun Broker. com then pistol parts and type in 1911.. Best place to buy grips.. You can get them a lot cheaper there.

I just picked up a grip for my s&w 1911 from First Defense Firearms in Uxbridge... Dennis had several and I ended up getting just the Hogue - this felt good....

I have a couple of sets of the Alumagrips, and they're great for carry & shooting.

The more customized http://wickedgrips.com/ are also made for carry, but are a bit pricey(er). Eddie will pretty much make anything you want....he is making me some Sig grips now.
