1st AR picture and questions

I agree. The upper is a hodgepodge of parts from different rifles. Plus, it appears that you have a PTS forend. Hopefully they didn't charge you Magpul prices for that.

My advice would be to part out that upper and sell the components, then buy a new complete upper with a flattop receiver.

It started as a stock stag arms with an a1 upper and they tossed on all the magpul accessories at the shop.

This is what is confusing here. As far as I can tell, Stag never offered an A1 upper. This why we think the rifle was assembled by just a lot of leftover parts.

The barrel may be Stag (the comp looks like one of theirs), but I can not find a gas block like yours anywhere, and as a few eagle eyed posters mentioned, your handguard is made for airsoft, and is not the "real" Magpul one.

I hope you really did get a screaming deal on this, because a lot of things on it are not really adding up to what you think you might have purchased.

That poor rifle is a miss match of parts. Who ever put it together looks like they just used what was laying around. It's going in to many different directions at once. Buy a new upper and call it a day.

I don't think stag even made a A2 upper reciever? I have not seen one anyway? Maybe very early on?
Ok so where are all the original parts from this once complete rifle? You should have brought those home in a box with you.
You paid for rifle X.....then the shop convinced you to buy a precision rifle stock from magpul some air soft parts and completely wrong sight set up....I'm starting to wonder if OP is more knowing in the AR field and put this together to F with us......hmmmmmm

You guys are all making it sound like you can't use 'spare parts' to build a rifle. You can, as long as those 'spare parts' are the right 'spare parts.'

What about a magpul front sight?? Would that match up with the carry handle rear?

I have an F marked front sight, and a magpul rear on 2 of my rifles. So same principle, exact opposite. [laugh]

DO NOT PUT A MAGPUL FRONT SIGHT ON THERE!!!!

A Magpul sight will melt if put on a gas block rail.

which I think his upper takes the wrong parts path ? im no stranger to tossOparts together

Just so I can practice iron sights on the cheap....22lr set up

If he is at max elevation and still hitting 3 feet low at 100 yrds, I think it it safe to say that someone definitely used the wrong spare parts.

Exactly, don't put any polymer sights on gas blocks, I was laughing when I saw exactly that on a major and famous gun shop. Zeroing your AR at 100 yards, why?
why not ? i mean unless your setting up for combat engagement zero at 100 yards if your going to be shooting at 100 yards.
I used this method http://www.northeastshooters.com/vb...on/143705-zeroing-ar-15-hp-competition-2.html for my ARs as I "target shoot" with them. So i am constantly adjusting the sights. Im glad i found this also as the combat zero leaves you with no - elevation adjustment.
OPs big problem is he has a A1 rear sight no elevation adjustment so everything is off the front sight. So with his front sight post already bottomed out is front sight is still WAY to tall. If he in deed is shooting 3 feet low at 100 yards. would need aprox 1/4" lower on the front sight just to get close to poa=poi

what are you going to use for sights? even if you get the flat top and mount a A2 rear sight your going to have to raise the A2 rear sight elevation drum aprox 36 clicks to get on paper at 100....im going on the still shooting 3 feet low thing.
Personally if your going for the iron sight set up I would go with a bolt on A2 sight/gasblock if brake is pinned and the RRA national match detachable carry handle sight if your doing target shooting or a standard A2 rear sight of sorts. Wait im thinking you should go back to store have them install ehat was on this rifle in the begining. Sell off what they remove and start over ?

Sorry, bro, but the whole setup does not make sense to me. Heavy PRS stock, MOE handguard, A2 type rear, Flip up front. Can you give me an idea of the purpose of the set up? Are you going for groups at that distance? If yes, why no free float? If it feel dsa unbalanced as it looks, it wouldn't be for me (I recon it doesn't have to). Not crapping on you thread or dissing your stick, just genuinely curious.

actually making things worse is its a A1 rear sight. The OP has not surfaced in a while. I hope he brought that mess back to the store that tossed it together. Either that or OP been mess'n with us.
