I'm trying to decide whether I want threaded or non-threaded 20" barrel for my next AR build. I've unfortunately never had a chance to shoot an AR without some sort of brake on it.

What would the major differences be?

Man up its a 223. I am trying to decide that same thing on my next build, but its a 300 mag. There is some recoil reduction which may help you if you don't mind the added noise. On the other hand it is a gas gun so how much recoil is there?

I was not saying you did. I don't think the added noise and cleaning is worth the help a brake will give you. You could always add one later if you miss it. If the noise, cost and cleaning don't bother you just get the break. Other wise I don't think you will miss one.
