This Thread helps a lot. I'm hoping to get my LTC in the coming months and I really like the Glock 19. I've tried others such as the SR9, Sig 226, etc. I keep liking the Glock 19. I think my only concern is finding one in MASS. Cost isn't too big of a deal. I was looking to spending about 400-600 bucks and I realize i'm going to over pay for a glock. I like when i'm seeing about refurbing them. I feel like I can't make a mistake with the Glock.

If you are patient and bother to look around enough, you don't have to "overpay" for one. You should be able to get a 2nd gen G19 for <$500. Hell, I think at one of the gun shows (Marlboro? ) I saw a couple of 2nd gens for mid $400s, with mild holster wear. Gun shows are notoriously bad, so if I found one there for that price, shoudln't be that hard to get elsewhere. I'd suggest looking at smaller shops and FTF deals. Any local Glock armorer can do the upgrade parts for short money (if needed).

Also remember that 2nd gen Glocks will transfer in from anywhere, no problem... just be sure to factor the cost of the transfer in (which in MA ranges from $35-50) plus shipping. You might be able to find one on Gunbroker or Gunsamerica for short money.

drgrant....thanks for the info. I appreciate it. going to take your advice and take my time. Might as well be happy with something I want.

Going down Saturday to get mine. My wife called monday at 5:00 ( when they open ) to put a deposit on one for me. Let me know how they look, I'm hoping not too ugly!!!

Just got it!!!

As usual with First Defense the barrel was shiny and clean, although I did re-clean and oil the gun when I got home lol (trained habit). couldn't be happier with it!

no scratches or dings or anything, although the texture on the polymer frame is a little bit worn, but totally expected from a 2nd gen Glock. (or any gun of similar age)

Mine appears to have been a late '80's-early '90's model and even came in the original plastic box, and honestly, it feels much better in my hand than the fancy pantsy M&P9 with its interchangeable grips did lmao! feels a lot sturdier and comfy.

all in all I'm very glad I traded the M&P for this little guy!

Just got the last $399 G19, had a deposit on it since Monday. Very good condition. Totally excited. My wife made the trip down to First Defense and both of us were VERY pleased with both Dennis and Shelly. Thanks to both of them for a great deal!

Mine has worn out night sights? Can you get them "recharged". Or just buy new ones?

I have the exact same deal with night sights, anybody know if they can be recharged? I would'nt be crushed if I had to buy new ones, but If these can be spared that'd be cool too lol [grin]

also, these can handle +P right? I've heard they can no problem, but I like confirmation lol

EDIT: Okay yeah I just read up, basically they can eat anything but LEAD rounds, even +P+ on occasion is okay(+P+ pressure can vary dramatically between different ammo, so check first), but extended use will increase wear on the gun.

cool.

Buy new ones.

Trijicon and Meprolights are common brands. You can get Glock "brand" night sights that have a lifetime warranty, and are pretty good. I typically get my Glocks with the Glock night sights.

I have both. Extensively fired them. Very extensively. Mechanically speaking, Glock hands down. Make sure you like it egeronomically. You can still find pre ban high cap magazines for the Glock. None are available for the Ruger, that are MA compliant, that is. If you want to do a range comparison, email me and we'll arrange to meet at harvard sportsmen's club and you can fire them both. Bring tons of ammo.
