Glock is coming out with a 4th Generation frame! New for this frame is the noticeably different grip which will have a nice bite to it (skateboard tape fans will no longer want or need skateboard tape) and really nice serrations on the rear of the slide. Something about the frame feels more like the first generation and I felt it was easier to grip up high on the backstrap. They will be starting out with both the Glock 22 and Glock 17 and will eventually have all the Glocks out in this design.

Wow.

Just how does "New..." plus "New..." equal "Same..."

[thinking]

OH. MY. GOD. I'm going to have to get a 4th gen. G26.

Suh-weet!

I just hope they will work with the old magazines. The gun will be useless in MA if our old mags won't work in it...

The pic looks like they did two things here (no inside info, just from the visual):

- Looks like an SF frame (smaller grip than the Glock standard guns).

- Looks like the new style mag release. This means two things as well:

* Old mags will not fit.

* New hi-cap mags will definitively be identifiable as NON-MA compliant (e.g. felony material).

You can still buy 10 rounders
I could, and I could also buy an M&P, but I won't. If the old mags won't work, then I'll just continue to collect the entire set of 3rd Gens until I have at least two of each in the calibers I shoot. You can never have enough Glocks...

-Cuz.

Edited to add:
Boy, I wish I could believe that pile of crap I just typed. I know I'll want at least one 4th gen just because they exist and I don't have one...

The new glock mags already have the ambi-mag release. Your right easily identifiable. That's my problem with new guns like the M&P and the P250 if it ever becomes available

I'm not familiar with Glocks. Would it be possible to modify pre-ban mags to work?

Would you buy an M&P45, though? Since it holds ten to begin with?

I'm betting he's just a "Glock" guy and only wants Glock. I can understand that for sure. [wink]

Yeah, you got that right. It took me a while to come to grips with it, but I'm officially out of the closet now. Hi, my name is Cuz, and I'm a Glockaholic...

I have shot a few M&Ps and they are nice, and I may end up with one yet, but it wouldn't be the .45 just because of the ammo costs. The Target/Competition model that was just reviewed in the Front Sight USPSA magazine actually looked kinda nice. If I ever did get one it would probably just sit in the safe as I actually enjoy shooting Glocks. I'm trying to stop buying guns I don't plan to shoot a lot and right now the G34 and G17 are the ones making the frequent trips to the range. Besides, with each new Glock I get a whole bunch of redundant parts that will work in all the others...

I have a 21SF with the ambi release and it uses the newer style mags. It is possible to cut the notch into the front of a non-ambi mag and have it work. I think there was a writeup on glocktalk on how to modify them.

It's also possible glock will offer the new 4th gen with the normal style mag release. If the do then the old mags will work fine.

Interesting, it seems reasonable that you should be able to cut out the notch in a FML mag to make it work. But, isn't there something in the MA law about modifying a feeding device?
I think my next Glock may be the 30SF with the standard Glock rails and traditional mag release so it will work with the old mags.

Looks a little like the 1st gen G17 (which I had)....same overall handle dimensions/angle I take it?
I was told that Glock will never again try to become MA compliant though.

AFAIK it's legal to make that type of modification since you're not modifying the magazine capacity at all. Now modifying a 10 round mag to hold over 10 rounds might be illegal but I don't think that it's the modification that makes it illegal but rather now you have a post-ban magazine that is over 10 rounds.

I could be wrong though [smile]

Also I thought only the 21SF could be had with a picatinny rail? Are they offering both on the 30SF now?

There is nothing in MA law about this. The only thing that would be illegal is making it so it would hold more than 10 rounds, or, if you assume MA adopts the federal edict, modifying a large cap preban mag in such a way that it will not work in the original firearm it was intended for. Cutting an ambi notch would not do that, as it would still work with both.

I'm not aware of a 30SF that has an ambi release (yet) so the issue is probably mostly moot. At least the G30SF I picked up did not have ambi cuts in its mags, nor were there any such cuts in the 4 new extra G30 mags I just bought, either.
