5.45mm ballistically similar to 5.56?

Kind folks,

My father owns an AK-74 in 5.45x39mm and was thinking about getting a scope for it. There seems to be a somewhat limited selection of glass geared toward the round.

Does anyone know if the WarPact 5.45 round is ballistically pretty close to the 5.56mm NATO? That would open up many more possibilities.
