Looks pretty cool, but the price is out there. I heard about it on Matt Burkett's podcast. Supposedly there's a cheaper version coming without the fancy wood.

Unique - but why?

I would think a 20 ga or 12 ga shotgun with a slug barrel would be a lot cheaper.

Hot 12ga load = 1oz slug (437 grain) at 1700fps

Hot 500 S&W load = 400Gr at 1800 fps

Hmmm. Close.

Hot 12Ga slug = $1
Hot 500 cartridge = $3

Hmmm.

But then again, look at that wood. Mmmmmm.

I would love a 4" .500 S&W in a holster and a .500 S&W lever gun on my shoulder...Keep the pump action gun - Marlin needs to make a .500 lever....[cheers]

Thats what I was thinking. Much rather have a .500 lever gun.

Someone on this site loads his S&W 500 with 700gr projectiles. Not sure of the muzzle velocity, But I'm pretty sure it packs more wallop than a 12ga. slug.
I wish I could recall this fella's name, which reminds me of a old movie character.

If you notice the prices I put up these assume you are buying factory loads and aren't an evil genius reloader with an affinity for pushing the envelope, like a certain unnamed NES member infamous for "Neuclear Reloads"

Note to self, learn how to reload.

If you have your own brass, cast your own bullets, and buy powder and primers in bulk, you can make full power, full velocity loads for as little as $0.12/each.
