I searched, and from what I'm seeing is that the externals of both rounds are the same its the thickness of the 308 that differs from the 7.62 correct? Same say a pressure difference, is this cause one is thicker and one thinner and one can hold more powder?

I ask cause I'm looking at a 1916 model Mauser rifle that's chambers in 7.62 and want or would like to shoot 308 from it but I'm hearing mixed reports. I will have the head space checked.

Here is one more question regarding difference in ammo. I see that some guns like the 1916 model Mauser can be chambers to fire 7.62x39 (SKS and ak ammo ). Here is my question, why are some saying the x39 ammo is three thousands of an inch bigger than the boar of the 1916??? I thought all 7.62 ammo was the same .311??

Can you clear up my miss info, thanks.

Jason.

Edit never mind I found an open topic of all the places the ammo section, lol. Mods you delete if you please, sorry searched the wrong topic spot.
