I've never tried to move a dovetail rear sight on a pistol before. I need to move it a slight amount because it is 1.5" off to the right at 20 feet. It is plainly visible just by looking at it that it isn't centered perfectly.
An allen wrench easily moves the tiny screw up, and there's some red stuff on the screw; must be thread locker. Tapping the side with wood or plastic like the manual says is doing nothing though. It also looks like there's some kind of clear substance under the sight (slightly visible at the edges), perhaps more loctite or some kind of glue? How would it normally come from the factory? I bought it used but I doubt the previous owner did any tinkering with it.
I don't want to break anything or damage the finish. What's the best way to move this with precision? I may have to do it several times until I get it just right. I'm even willing to buy more tools to help do this if it'll work. (I don't even have any good way to clamp it still while I tap at it.)
