Question for any NES'ers in LE or those in a similar stage in the hiring process...

I recently attended my first oral board interview, and was given a written conditional offer of employment the same day (contingent upon poly, BI, etc.)... Having been my first time interviewing with a PD, I was wondering if it's relatively standard in the hiring process to receive an offer so quick? I have a few more oral boards coming up this month, so I'm trying to get a better handle on the general process after the interviews, and if it significantly varies between departments.

Thanks

Yes, but the rest of the process is where a lot of people get dropped, happened to me, passed everything got a offer contingent upon passing a polygraph and background ...didn't get passed the polygraph...those things are a monster. But congrats ad good luck with the rest!

Polygraph? You talking for a fed or out of state job?

FYI

Special note to paragraph 2.

Just a bit of advice to OP. Everyone has screwed up in their lives. No one is perfect. Own up to it and DO NOT lie. They will find out and you will get booted. Most of the time it is not as big of a deal as you think it is. Just a piece of friendly advice.

Out of state (NH), so I'll check up to see if there is something like that in NH's laws.

Thanks for the advice... That was my intention going into the oral board, so I laid everything all out for them (and it stung a bit). I'll stay the course for the polygraph and hope for the best.

This. A fella I know works at one of the securest fed facilities in the US. During his polygraph he admitted to smoking pot and also selling in the past. Figured he was done. Nope, he passed the polygraph and has worked there for years.

They are after the truth. Anything but the truth makes them really nervous.

Polygraphs are a pain, but from what friends have told me, be honest and open and you should be good. Best of Luck
