well i finnaly got to shoot my ak an guess what? when i shoot it the mag falls out its like its not seating right any ideas?

It's not seating properly!

Take an empty mag and the empty AK clone and practice seating the mag. The front of the mag must catch properly on the mag well or it will not seat properly. A properly seated mag will be firmly held in the mag well.

Regards,

Bob

In other words, repeat your username out loud while looking in the mirror...[smile]
Sorry, but I couldn't resist![grin]

Having recently purchased an AK style rifle myself, I noticed it's very easy to get the mag in just 'sorta right'. I suspect that may be your only problem. So take P-14's advice and play around with an empty mag and gun, and hopefully you'll see that it just wasn't in correctly.

One of my few complaints with the AK platform is the lack of a drop-free mag system (you must gotten a rare prototype [wink]).

The mags aren't inserted like other semiauto firearms.

You have to tilt the mag forward so that the tab in front of the magazine engages in the receiver then give the mag a firm snap to the rear so the mag release locks it in.

Reverse the procedure for removing the mag... disengage the mag release, then pull the mag down and forward.

If you have more than one mag check to see if they all lock in/only one does etc..
You may have to take a few passes on a mag catch or the mag with a file to get them to lock in. DO not do anything till you try the above lock in procedure folks have advised you to but sometimes you do have to tweak things a bit.

( Whispering ) M-14/M-1A and FAL's work this way too but you knew that already, right? [wink] ( Whispering )

i have the opposite problem with my WASR10. getting the mag in is sorta easy, but getting it out takes a incredible amount of force to get out. i think it was BillK that tried mine out and he used one of his metal mags, insted of my plastic waffle mags. i had to put the rifle in between my legs and use both hands in order to get the mag out. they must of not milled it enough when they machined out the mag well.

Use a Dremel or a flat file and take out any high spots in the well.

I almost was about to tell you "have it, I have 30 more at home"

yeah, im going to look into it with my grandfather on wednesday, hes a very experienced machinist, he knows what to look for. id be more likly to either file the wrong spot down or file it to much.

heh, yeah, it had me worried a little bit. you know something is really stuck when you have to use all your strength, plus your legs to get it out!

That's one of the things that I don't like about the M14/M1A and FAL.

It's something that I don't even think about anymore. It takes a few seconds for the muscles to remember and everything is right with the world. The AK is the easier of the two but I have a Chinese pre-ban that all my mags work very well in.

wel i fixed it the mags were not locking in i filed done the mags an them seem to lock in now. they dont come no matter how hard i tug which before they would so back to the range i guess to try it out

You may also want to try downloading the mag by one or 2 rounds and see if that helps. Some of my mags will fit tight when they're topped off and I'm inserting them against a closed bolt.

AK mags are simple to remove ... just tap the mag release with the new mag and you're done. Loading is a little more tricky and takes some practice.

I've given up trying to put 30 rounds in an AK 30-rounder. 29 rounds are the maximum I load in each. Then, I get reliable, jam-free functioning from the mags.
