Ankle or Back Pocket Gun

I vote for a Kel-Tec...something.

I have a P11 that I've put a few hundred rounds through since I bought it (previously loved by another NES member) and has functioned flawlessly. It's nice having 11rds of 9mm in my pocket at all times.

pretty sure I made my decision to try the PPS. It has been getting good reviews even with the junk factory trigger and many people have said they like it even more once they chance the dis connector.

I am not a big fan of ankle holsters for a very good reason. At one time I carried a model 60 in a Safariland ankle rig. One night, while chasing down a miscreant that had broken into a pinball machine at the bar I managed, I had the misfortune of having the model 60 break out of the holster and precede me down the street. If the scumbag had turned around, he could have scooped the gun up and shot me! The ankle rig is for sale, cheap.

I understand that fear, however I think that comes down to the quality and design of the holster. I had the same thing in mind when I was researching ankle rigs, as I walk (when late, RUN) and take public transport for the majority of my commute.

I have sprinted a number of times with mine on, and have never felt insecure nor lost it. It is all about the retention, I'd say.

As I've mentioned previously, I wear a Bianchi Triad. It has an achilles cutout for freedom of movement there. It has a "dimple" for the ankle bone, which is then utilized as a pivot point. Its got two x-leg retention straps, and one that adjusts the angle of the gun on your leg. Lastly, it has a very stout (but easy to unclip when needed) thumb strap for retention.

My *only* complaint is that the mag release has gotten released once. That, because I over-tightened the rig when i was less comfortable with it.

So... longwinded reply but simply, its all about quality design and weapon of choice for carry down there.

When I bought the Safariland rig it was one of the better ones on the market.

Have you thought about the "Sciatic Nerve Funhouse" aspect of back pocket carry yet? Not sure if that's a problem for you, but I know I couldn't carry
one back there, at least not if I'm sitting somewhere for any length of time. It has the same "defect" for me as SOB carry does... too damn
uncomfortable.

Getting back to the actual question.... Kahr PM9, or the PPS, I don't like autos that are any smaller than that, so I automatically exclude them by default. (Most have anemic caliber and poor reliability. ) If no auto, then 642/442, with trigger job and grips of preference.

I narrowed it down to the PPS or 642. I did put up a WTB in the classified for a PM9. Not surprisingly I didn't get a hit. I honestly don't expect to anytime soon and I want something in place by spring.

I got a Desantis Nemesis holster. It is the same holster for the G26. Aside from being a little to fat it worked great on my glock when i used it last night. When i said down it just looked like i had something square in my pocket, possibly a wallet.
