Antique gun ID needed

Any ideas what this thing is?

It's freaking cool!

The spring makes me think it's an air gun of sorts.

What's the bore like? Diameter, smooth, rifled.
Action - does it break open?

I'm away from it right now, but I'll get back to you, IIRC the bore is rifled. The action is a little different when you pull back on the hammer (single action only) the entire piece directly in-front of the hammer which appears to be the chamber lifts up. I'll try and get a video of it.

And there are no stamps or markings on it of any kind, just the scroll work.

That's a parlor gun. Uses caps (just caps) and cast balls fed from a tube. Used to be rock 'n cock, but someone added the spring
