Me and a few buddies have a gun or 2 we'd like to shoot where we aren't restricted to mag limits, ability to shoot steel or firing faster than "bang........ Bang......". Ideally this is out doors as at least one or two of us have AKs, thus steel core be metal rounds.

Is there any such range or am I just too naive to believe one exists this far north? No, we aren't those clowns you see bump firing their rifles and hood shooting their pistols. We are all serious and genuine enthusiasts who either don't have a range or in my case severely limited. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Also, would private land in the middle of no where work? If so, anyone want to host, you set the ground rules.

Harvard or Hopkinton in MA.

Can't bring steel to Harvard so you are limited to the two pieces they provide at the 100 yard range for rifle. Other than that the only annoying rules are that you can't shoot rimfire in the action pits and can't shoot .44 special at the sub gun range. It's a great range though, nicest once I've seen around here.

Harvard has steel plates, plate racks or dueling trees at the 25, back 40,100,cowboy pits, subgun range,200 and 300. I'm not aware of any rule that says you can't shoot .44 special at the subgun range.

I'm not aware of a club that will let you shoot steel core rounds at club owned steel for obvious reasons.
True, that. But I did not say "shoot steel core rounds at club owned steel."

Steel-cored ammo ist verboten at Hopkinton. Full stop. Doesn't make any difference what the target is.

I don't want to get into a pissing match but that is actually not true.

I don't know about Hopkinton, but Harvard allows steel core on paper but obviously they don't want you damaging the club's steel.

Hey Gerry, I haven't been to the back 40 since they redid it, do they have steel there that you are allowed to shoot rifle at? Since he was asking about AK's thats why I mentioned steel for rifle only at the 100.

I was scolded about shooting .44 special at the sub gun range by one of the officers of the club. I agree that it is not stated on the rules, but he was fairly insistent both in person and later on the forum when I asked about it which is why I mentioned it as an annoying rule.
