Looking for a range that rents handguns. Looking to buy my first and would like to decide on a couple. Afs in Attleboro rents but you need to have your own firearm to rent which kinda defeats the purpose for me. Any suggestions?

What do you mean? "Afs in Attleboro rents but you need to have your own firearm to rent"
I was thinking of going there to try a couple of guns I'm thinking of buying

Their policy is located here... http://www.americanfirearmsschool.com/pages/cfFacility.cfm

It appears if you want to shoot alone you have to have a LTC and your own gun. If you bring someone else with you it appears that requirement is waived. If you guys are interested in shooting their just give them a call and confirm.

AFS will rent to you if you are shooting with someone. It's the individual with no license and no gun of their own that they say no to.

That's the thing. I have my ltc and was looking to try a couple out to try to narrow down my choices for my first purchase. I even took their learn to shoot program for the shits and giggles. I still wasn't able to rent one.

I get it. I do. But handguns vary wildly to me and I'm sure I'm not alone. It would just be nice if I could try the model out that I was considering buying. I guess I'm just gonna have to into it blind. But just playing devils advocate, if I am suicidal and I have a license to purchase what's to stop me from putting one in a credit card since I wouldn't have to worry about paying for it, buying some ammo, renting a lane and then doing the same thing? I shouldn't have to pay for a private lesson to try some stuff out.

Mostly for range but would like the ability to carry.

My friend and myself are both looking for our first purchase, none of my other friends have any. So it's either buy and hope for the best or pay for a private lesson.

So the two of us with licenses but no firearms of our own can go in and they will rent to us?

Pretty sure, yes. I know it doesn't make perfect sense but they are trying to lower the odds of a repeat incident. I shoot there every week, good people who work there but as always you need to stay aware of your surroundings.
