Anyone have a sig mpx?

Shot the suppressed MPX SBR fo' free at Pelham last weekend....surprisingly low turnout.

I got to handle an MCX after a class I took at Sig last week and I have to say I am drinking their koolaid. I watched someone shooting a suppressed FA MPX as well, man I wish I could have one of those, talk about a bullet hose.

Look cool played with an sbr one at the gun parlor. Nifty little thing but 1300 is too much for anything you have to massify the mags on. 1300 is a solid ar setup. Tough to justify one but if you can you'll love it.

I got to shot it at Pelham as well. Was a pretty nice gun overall. I would take it over an MP5 given a choice (which I don't have) :) Even better if you can get the integral suppressor. Sweet setup.

Then you've never shot an mp5.

Oh really? I certainly have, many times. Where do you get your information? The Sig is a better gun. It is a state of the art sub gun design. Lighter, easier to handle, and uses the same controls as an AR making transitions between carbine and sub gun a lot easier. Don't confuse nostalgia for an iconic gun with superiority.

+1

I like MP5s and all, but they're like AKs. They didn't gain their status by being precision machined, super smooth firearms. They gained their status by being cheap and easy to produce, stamped receiver work horses that got to the party first.

I know MP5/HK94's aren't "cheap" for civilians to own, but the FA versions that military and LEOs are pretty cheap ($800-$1500 usually).

I am building an AR9 at the moment and as soon as my stamp arives I'll finish it. But I did get to play with a MPX yesterday. That thing is a sweet little gun. I have heard some grumblings of some issues with this version on AR15.com. I think I will have to get the kurz when it comes out.

I like how the stag is a dedicated 9mm. Mags are widely available plus stag puts a diamond rail with a pair of flip up sights

Only problem i see with a dedicated lower is if you want to go nfa. its one tax stamp for one caliber . Vs a normal lower that you can rub a bunch of calibers .

well when it comes to registered lowers and changing calibers the ATF only politely requests that you notify them, there is no actual legal requirement to do anything other than put a caliber on the form 1 when you register the lower.

I think he means that you physically can't change a dedicated 9mm lower into other calibers.

So if you form 1 a standard lower, you can run 5.56, BLK, 6.8SPC, and toss a mag block in it and run 9mm.

I have a CMMG 9mm SBR, and it accepts nothing but Colt SMG mags, so unless someone makes a pistol caliber upper that uses modified Colt mags, I'm stuck with that gun being 9mm only.

makes more sense when said like this.

god damn it ben. [wink]

So in Mass, I understand you can buy the 16" barreled 9mm MPX carbine, seems to be like $1700? (or shorter barreled ones with a tax stamp)

I know it's retarded, doubly so if you comply with the Mass laws on mags and stock, but damn, I want one.

This might an option as well, 8" barrel plus extension. Just remove it when SHTF:

They both look wrong. If I was going to splurge for what clearly is a fun toy, I'd get the SBR.

This could be done by purchasing the pistol version from a NH dealer. Then once the form 1 clears have him put a stock on it and do the transfer.

Yeah, i should probably read up on the procedure to do an SBR. But even then I think I'd want an AR.

I have the stag 9T with the diamond rail...its a tad heavier than some of my 5.56s but its a blast to shoot. Practice cost next to nothing shooting 9mm. There around 1100ish. SIGs MPX is cool but unless you get the SBR its not worth it in my opinion. Also I hear mags for the MPX are like 70 bucks???
