I adore H&R/Nef Single shot weapons. I have a H&R Ultra Varmint, Heavy Barrell, in 243, with a cheap Center Point 4-12x scope that shoots clover leafs at 100 yards all day long. I got it from a fellow NES'er for 150$. I also have an older Topper Model 158 in 30-30 with a Williams peep sight that is also a tack driver. I bought it for 100$ at Ron's Sport Shop in fairhaven MA. Finally, I have 12ga shotgun, also an older Topper that shoots 1oz slugs very well, and also is great fun to take to shoot Clays. With all that said, I recmomend them highly. And for the money you really can't go wrong. H&R is also a pretty good company to deal with. You can send them the frame and have other barrels fitted to the same frame. My farther has one with a 20ga bird barrel, 28inches long, and a shorter rifled 20ga barrel for deer hunting.
