my boss brought a VERY interesting specimen to work today to show me (grabbed me after everyone else had left). he's looking at the idea of selling it, but has NO idea what it might be worth.

E. Remington & Sons, Manf. 1875, SA revolver in .44-40 (marked 44W on the grip). blueing appears to be original, and is EASILY 95%+, grips are mint, with no noticable nicks, dings, dents or blemishes that i could see.

i've had a hell of a time trying to find info on this gun, but it's piqued my interest. unfortunately, i'm no antiques expert. he's supposed to send me a few pictures of it later to post, but nothing as of now.

This is NOT a reproduction / replica.

for reference: this is NOT his gun, but just a picture to show what it looks like (his is in FAR better condition)

Paul Dias is a good possibility.

Paul is an auctioneer and dealer in antique firearms.

He sometimes shows up at the Mass Bay Collectors Assn meets, 4th Monday evening at Braintree R&P, but I'd call him first to make sure he'll be there.

I don't have an Email address for Paul, but ask him for one and have your boss send pics of his gun to him in advance. if possible.

Likely this gun is worth a small fortune if all original and decent shape as you state.

thanks len! (and troda, for your PM).

if this pans out, you are indeed right. bluebook lists it at (very possibly) $10k+

perhaps my boss will feel generous this christmas! i could use a good bonus!
