While i was building my AR-15, i noticed a lot of clone parts on eBay for the AR-15. I have since come across 3 instances where there are clones of good products out there. My first instance was a Magpul PRS stock. I got scammed into buying a Chinese POS. When it arrived, it was loose, wobbly and had no magpul branding. I knew right then and there is was a fake. After a lot of time, i finally won my dispute with pay pal/eBay and got my money back. The seller has since changed his description to "PRS style." Here is what im taking about http://cgi.ebay.com/SNIPER-Rifle-Stock-Black-223-Adjustable-magpul-PRS-styl_W0QQitemZ320329517660QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAirsoft?hash=item320329517660&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

The second is a clone of a Daniel Defense Free float handguard. While i didnt buy this one, i am tempted to to justify that it is a piece of crap. http://cgi.ebay.com/BT-Daniel-Defense-Style-MK18-RIS-II-Rail-Handguard-DE_W0QQitemZ290283848244QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item290283848244&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Needless to say, second guess everything and make sure that you are buying a quality product.

I'm leery of anything that lists the word style in the description.

There are plenty of good reputable online stores out there that sell items for cheap. Doesn't mean I don't check out ebay first.

They have another guy who seems to be selling the real deal for $225. You wouldn't have happened to buy from that guy, did you?

F&%$# eBay!! Ever since that V-tech Glock mag incident, they pulled "anything that is connected with firing a bullet" from their listings. Worse still, they won't even allow a PICTURE of a gun with, say, a holster product listing. I won't even get into the jack-booted PayPal policies. [angry]

Most of the stuff on Ebay is airsoft stuff, which I have no problem with as long as it's clear that that's what it is. Look at the seller's other items, you should get a feel for what they are selling.

+1 Most of the tactical accessories on ebay appear to be cheap clones/knock offs intended for light recoil airsoft type use. Don't get me wrong, they have their place. I use knock off red dots on .22 rifles, I just can't justify spending $400 bucks on an optic to mount it on a $450 GSG-5 who's sole purpose is plinking. As long as you know what your buying from the start all is good. Like the OP I do get PO'd when people try to pass it off as the real deal.

I got a Leapers red dot scope for my daughter's .22 rifle. I just couldn't justify putting a $375 Eotech on a $200 gun!!! She loves my Eotech, but it will be a while before she gets to use it, as it is on my .50Beowulf!
