I bought a cheaper ar because it was available and not priced gouged in ma. It was unfired. So I'm replacing a few things here and there on the anderson lower. Looking for a quality affordable complete upper with a mlok or similar rail system, midlength. I like the feel of the aero m4e1. Not looking to spend over a grand as it is my first ar..

If 1K is your budget, then go straight to the BCM website, find someone in NH to receive, and you're all set.

BCM sometimes has blemished for sale for a lot less and the one that I bought a while back had just 1 good scratch that is hidden by the equipment on it.

The M4E1 is a big, big improvement on conventional uppers imho. You can buy an Aero M4E1 upper with a 12" Gen 2 M-Lok handguard for $165 from Schuyler Arms - a smoking deal. Then you're well on your way to building your own upper for well under $1,000. I'm building one with a Wilson Combat 18" fluted stainless barrel and gas system and Toolcraft NiB BCG right now, total cost will be around $800 for an upper built with really high quality parts.

It pisses me off that I can't build a matching Aero Precision lower to put it on, but that's another story. Fortunately I do have one pre 7/20 lower with a paper trail.

other than a one of a kind special barrel/handguard mounting system what makes it so much better?
curious really to know just how much better it can be with just a fancy mounting system.? So limitted to handguards you can install. needs a soecial barrel nut and wrench (which is included )

The M4E1 is not really about the special mounting system for the handguard, it corrects a couple of deficiencies in the design of a conventional upper.

First, the M4E1 eliminates the need to align a cutout in the barrel nut to the gas tube, so you can actually torque the barrel nut to spec. without any tweaking and the gas tube will always be perfectly aligned.

More importantly, the M4E1 has a much stronger barrel-to-upper connection due to the much thicker aluminum section at the interface. I can understand if this does not impress you but I'm a mechanical engineer and that weak point in the AR-15 design struck me the first time I saw it. Whoever designed the M4E1 saw the same deficiency. If you ever need to club something (zombies) with your rifle or you want to build an upper with a heavy barrel you will appreciate the difference.

interesting... makes sense. How does the unit keep the barrel indexed for the gas port alignment ? Do you need to remove the barrel extension alightment nub to install the barrel?

I ordered a complete Troy upper a few months ago. BCG, ch, and buis included with my choice of mlok or keymod rail. 430$ and I couldn't be happier.

The normal way. The barrel alignment pin goes into a slot in the upper as usual.

No you don't.

As long as I'm in Mass. I won't be building any more uppers but if I move I would only use the Aero Precision enhanced upper from now on.

Aeroprecision makes great stuff that is reasonably priced.

Its so good, that other name manufacturers sell their stuff as their own.

Some serious capital investment in this video.

Thats because firearms are only a small part of what they use all those machine tools for.

Reminds me of CMT in CT. Things like gun parts are probably elementary for them especially a 50 year old design. Now I just wish one of these big companies would put out a nice M1 garand receiver for a decent price.

So, what you're basically saying is that you hate America and freedom. Hmmm.
