I'm thinking about ordering a folding rear sight for my AR, and was wondering what people use? I was looking at one from Troy industries. Is one better than the next, or does it not really matter? Any recommendations? Thanks!

If you are putting a red dot sight (Aimpoint, EOTech, something like them), you're better off using a solid, bombproof fixed rear sight that co-witnesses on the lower third of the optic (so you don't have to look through the sight to use the dot).

fwiw, the folding battle sights are also a 1/3 co-witness.
it's truly way more HSLD to have a folding sight as a rear BUIS too.

I like the GG&G. Maybe not as "cool" as the Troy but cheaper and just as good IMHO. (It's just there as a backup in case my aimpoint breaks anyway...)

Dude, at first I was going to say that you were wrong saying that the GG&G was cheaper than the Troy rear folding sight... That link you provided to Midway USA has that GG&G for $115, and I get my Troy rear folding sights for $95......

From the same place you linked... Midway USA: I looked up the Troy Rear folder (regular, NOT tritium night sight) and they have it for $180.99!!!!! WHAT THE HECK OVER???

So I asked myself, HOLY POOP, Does midway mark up everything this much?? wtf?
So I looked at GG&G's site for that rear sight:

Bottom line, they are comparable, and DAMN, I think Midway FAILED at pricing that Troy site, and I am sad for whoever buys it and gets boned at 180.99, for a $100-120 item..

I think the issue is that it's a Troy rebranded as an Eotech......

LOL there's a good way to mark it up for the tacticool folks. Lable a Troy sight, as EOTech, and make a killing.
