Best friend came over admiring my collection of m1s. He was talking to me about my love of ww2 weapons, and how my 3 post war m1s don't really fit. He's trying to talk me into selling those 3 (keep early winchester, early SA m1d and my grandfathers ww2 SA) and use funds to get a m1 carbine, 1903, k98, and possibly a k43 or 03a4. Part makes sense as space is limited, and seeing more and more junk m1s coming out of cmp these days may not be a bad idea for someone to get a decent non pitted all usgi correct rifle. But same time love looking down and seeing all m1s lined up in my display...

Put it out there to see others opinions, if should keep intact, or as friend put it "variety is the spice of life".

Friends don't tell friends to sell their guns.

A "friend" helps you move, a "good friend" helps you move... a body. Which type of friend is he?
He once leaped on a grenade for me and took home the fat chick at bar that we swear was ripping ass (didn't think we could hear it or smell it) so I could take home her cute friend.

You guys keep talking this gibberish, "only 1"? I have guns and have never heard of this "only 1" thing. Must be a European thing.
One of each type lol. He never saw the need why I had 32 M1s once.

OK, 32 might be a bit much, if you run into that situation again just send a few my way. I'm helpful like that [smile]

Selling off whats not in theme of what your trying to achieve is dine especially if its how you fund it.
Been out of the buying game since 2018 and dont see me buying anything with out selling something in the future.

I have a WWII collection of M1's and a Korean war collection of M1's and a post war collection of M1's and even Vietnam era M1's because, well they used them everywhere.
How do you know a WWII era M1 went to Vietnam?

I like them all and all are possible “war” rifles.
I no longer try to collect.
I have “representative shooters”
I did get rid of the mosins. I just could not warm up to them enough.

The only Mosin I kept was the Finn that's a good shooter. Still trying to figure out how to get a clean rapid fire stage out of it, but otherwise it will hold the 10-ring on a SR target.

OP knows his stuff regarding M1's and I think he'd be the guy to keep a decent collection of them. Nothing special about having a mixed bag of WW2 hardware.

There are videos of displays in Vietnam of captured weapons and there were M1's in the cases. Maybe they were post war M1's, but they still fit my statement.

Well decided to keep my 6 babies. As much as I'd like to get others, I can't part with these ones as put too much work into them(still got more to do to get them how i want them).

I'll just wait to finish paying remaining divorce debts before going out and buying what and if want to add...

What happened to the 21??

I would definitely look to add a nice M1 carbine and some Axis arms to your collection. Keep the treasures 6 Garands.

Stay strong!

Back in 16, judge ordered to sell off and split proceeds with unfaithful wife and home wrecker.

Currently redesigning my coffee table m1 display to up capacity from 6 to 10 rifles as is full. M1 carbine, k98 def on list. Maybe a 1903 and g43 not sure yet...

let me re phrase it
How do you know a M1 your collecting was actually in Vietnam . I know they have been there, they been to many many places and many M1s where sold all over the world.

Guns aside, that’s pretty shitty. Usually karma follows the unfaithful.

I have 3 Garands and it’s always the favorite rifle when I take family and friends shooting. Man they love the M1!

I never stated that any of mine were in Vietnam. Why didn't you ask how I knew any of the M1's in my collection were in WWII or Korea? I don't and neither does anyone else. I'd be willing to bet at least one went to battle somewhere, but nobody knows for sure what went were.
