I cant seem to find the answers to my questions,so I will give it a try here.
I would like to try to get a 1/7 twist barrel. The one that will fit my budget is 14.5 inch.
which means putting on a break 1 1/2 long on the end which would be soldered. for mass compliant.I keep seeing some people thinking that this
is not good.others dont seem to mind.
Is it worth doing this for the barrel or should I just go with a 1/9 twist barrel at 16 inches.
would they just be the same at a distant??
I do understand the bullit weight with the 1/7 barrel.

Spike's will do MA compliance, my girlfriend and I each have their LE M4 uppers, they are a pretty good deal.

BCM makes a sweet lightweight 14.5" (with a battle comp brake welded on) they will grind off the lug or you can do with a dremel. If I where you, I'd get them and then by a used lower in the NES classifieds.

I think Four Seasons has several ARs in that price range and all Ma compliant. Any decent FFL should be able to get you an AR with your requirement for $1k or a tad more.

My Stag has a fluted SS barrel with 1:7 twist and shoots anything I feed it flawlessly. I'd have to measure the length but I believe it's 24".

You read my mind , i want a bcm upper 14.5 std barrel with the comp brake perm attached. It looks amazing..

are you really going to shoot 77+ grain bullets? Are you planning to shoot over 500 yards with it? If not, I wouldn't get hung up on a 1:7" twist barrel if it makes it harder to get the rest of the features that you want.

I have a 24" 1:9" Stag upper that shoots really well out to at least 400 yards with 62 grain SS109 and 55 grain commercial. Don't feel like you are not getting a good rifle if it isn't 1:7".
