Decided to put my Tavor up for sale in favor of my final consolidation of firearms.... Currebtly my safe contains lots of practical firearms that share lots of components, calibers , and general use practicality. While I love my Tavor, its the only thing I have left that doesn't make sense. It's also the only one my wife doesn't like and won't pick up and use. While I built her her own AR along with a beater AR for friends to try, the Tavor is the lonly one left in the safe when I go to the range.

So, I want a 14.5 mid length, factory built carbine.

Total price point for the carbine, optic and a light is $2200 - which leaves $1600 or less for a carbine. The more I save the more ammo, reloading components, and mags I can buy with the leftover money.

Top contender at the moment are the BCM 14.5 Reece KMR-a. No gassification needed other than sliding on my Magpul carbine stock. Everything I own BCM fricken works. I'm very close to just pulling the trigger on this one, but wanted to get some feedback.

The DD is nice, but I have experience with BCM and that means something to me.

Not interested in super high end AR's, as the whole purpose is to use this thing. My Tavor is already a safe Queen and Im gonna get its replacement dirty!

EDIT: in both cases I am talking about 14.5 facotry Carbines with a mid length gas system with a company pinned to 16.1" just to clarify. I'm not looking to buy a factory 14.5 SBR

Apples to Apples. They are both rock solid and g2g for a work rifle.

I have like 30,000 rounds through my BCM and its always been as nice to me as my Noveske. If I were in your shoes, id give the business to BCM. But I really dont think you can go wrong with either.

I lik my BCM setups too though one now has a Ballistic Advantage barrel.

Do you have the 14.5?

This is the one I'm looking at

http://bravocompanymfg.com/specification/bcm_recce14_kmr_a.php

I'm not sure what the ELW is getting me other than a few ounces? (Different barrel profile?)

Don't buy that. My BCM is identical to that, and even has the full KMR, which is 2 oz light than the Alpha rail. I paid $800 for the upper and $350 for the lower. No reason to pay a premium for the complete rifle.

Order the the upper from BCM, and complete lower from Rainier or G&R Tactical.

I have the DD v11 LW. Absolutely love it. The SLW shaved off another few ounces I think, but it's 6lbs give or take.

Functions flawlessly, looks awesome, can't go wrong.

Done and ordered. Picked up a Surefire M300 mini scout to mount on it to keep with the lightweight theme. Trigger and optic are next. Trigger is geissele, optic is ????

i pretty much exclusively use BCM or DD. you can't go wrong with either. the kmr is the only thing i havent tried on a personal rifle of mine, however I've shot guns with them and they are nice. all these guns are either dd or bcm. i find a 14.5" barrel + flash hider to be my favorite combo.

which you order and where? Either one is a Thumbs up

BCM, the shop I work Saturdays at :)

EDIT: Got home and told my wife about what I was doing and she promptly replied, "I need an AR too. We are gonna end up with Trump or Hillary and either one sounds like chaos to me"

So, looks like I'm building or buying another AR already (I love my wife)

I just swapped out my BCM/DD Lite Rail 12.0 14.5 for a BCM KMR-A-ELW 14.5 and the weight difference is significant! With the KMR-A-ELW it almost feels like a toy it's so lite! My next build I'll probably go BCM Recce KMR.

Anyone care to offer advice on an optic selection? I see some nice setups on the rifles posted....

So I'm coming off a Tavor with an EoTech. A roughly 9 pound unloaded setup....

I'm torn between the Aimpoint Pro and the Micros. My interest in the MRO is fading quickly.

I'm use to a large viewing angle with the Eotech, which I've had on all my carbines for 4 years now...

My wallet and my previous experience tell me the PRO is the way to go. But, the micro command the respect and presumably the price for a reason....

Is there a huge difference in clarity between the T-1 / H-1 and the T-2 / H-2? How about compared to the PRO? I've shot all of them, but not on a timer and only in a hour range session

I have a T1 and 2 PROs, didn't notice any big clarity differences between the two. Though on setting 8, T1 50000 hours, it's noticeably brighter than the PRO at setting 7, 30000 hours. Just my 2 brass casings, you pay for size and battery life with the micro.

I love optic talk. I think the PRO is the best bang for the buck. I like that the FOV is larger with the PRO. The only thing I don't like about the PRO is the mount, it's not a terrible mount, but I just didn't care for the look on my rifle - YMMV! For a Micro I would go with an H2 or H1 and you could save a little coin for ammo. Of course the T1/T2 are the "Caddies" of the line, but I'm never going to run night vision so I'd rather save a few bucks and get an H series, again YMMV. I'm currently running a Burris TAC30 with the FastFire III. I just love this setup and I get the best of both worlds.

On a lightweight 14.5" gun, I'd go for a T1/2. I have a PRO on my 10.5" LMT because I have one and can't justify replacing something that aint broke. On my 16" BCM I have a 1-4x because it is a standard profile barrel and a tad on the heavier side anyways.
