I fired my brand new Benelli M4 this weekend and had some cycling issues with some RIO #7 shot target loads. It would not eject the shell after each shot, anyone aware of these problems with semi-auto shotguns?

Heres a pic of the gun, enjoy!

Those guns are meant for heavy buckshot and slug loads, not target loads. If you want a great bird (clay or otherwise) gun, go with a Beretta 391.

And I actually sold my HK/Benelli Super 90 to buy an 870 after it kept failing at a SIG Shotgun course.

Man, I hope I didnt make a bad move...Waltham Law Enforcement equipment said it was like buying a "Rolex" of shotguns...

The m4 cycles my remington turkey loads properly though, I'll try the target loads again without the recoil pad. Thanks for the advice everyone.

You did not make a mistake...Everyone has their preferences and the M4 is GTG...Sweet gun, just use hotter ammo. My Super90 has been 100% for years and years...

As has been already said, the problem is the light load, however, a competent gunsmith could tune the gun for lighter loads if that is important to you.

ive probably put over 500 rounds of slugs through my m4...never cleaned it...and never had a problem...it wasnt meant to be used with target loads...slugs and buckshot only brother

I have the same weapon.. I have never had a cycle issue.. I shoot #00 Buck and Slugs...not bird rounds.

My M4 feeds and fires everything I have put into it. Mine will feed and function with Low recoil slug and buck shot. I have not really tried anything other then slug or buck. our gun could just need to loosen up a bit. The M-4 are supposed to be more tolerent of lighter slug and buck load as the gun has a gas assist system(Argo) that the M2 super 90 does not have
