This was a great event! Wish I could have stayed all weekend!

Thanks to all the instructors and IIT's. I'm definitely a better shooter for having attended; even earned my Rifleman patch!

I'll post more later when I'm not on the blackberry.

Congrats on making Rifleman Matt !

I've got to say I learned more about marksmanship in two days as an IIT than I have at any other time in my life. It's different when you stand behind all the shooters, you really get to see what works and what dosen't.

OK, back on my computer! Time for more of a report:

First, there were about 15 shooters there representing a pretty broad range of skills. On one side of me was a guy that was upset he ONLY shot a 245. On the other was a guy that hadn't shot in years (or ever?). I think everyone there learned something. I certainly did.

The range was quite nice, and the weather was spectacular (at least it was Saturday). Here are some pics of the range:

We shot at 25m, but the range extends to 500yds.

With the help of the coaches there I found out I was doing a few specific things wrong that was leading in part to the inconsistency of my shooting, things I never realized I was doing wrong (primarily dragging wood and gripping the fore end to tightly). I would not have figured these thing out on my own and correcting them had an immediate effect. Now I need to go to the range and ingrain those into my shooting.

Thanks again to the gang of instructors who gave up their weekend to put this event on(couldn't throw a rock without hitting one!).

Matt

EDIT TO ADD: It happened to be the anniversary of the Battle of Bennington on Saturday and one of the reinactors came out to talk about the battle and the role of the rifleman in the battle. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics.
