Beretta 92/92 FS to G conversion kits

"Gunsmith installation strongly recommended." Something tells me this is not a drop-in kit.

As a 92FS owner I'm slightly confused what this does.

it turns the decocker/safety lever into a decocker only lever. so when you decock the pistol the lever springs back up to the fire position. it also prevents inadvertent engagement of the safety when manually running the slide.

historically the french looked at the 92 and told beretta they wanted it decocker only. so beretta named this the "92G". it's also one of those few moments in history when the french made the correct call.

correct. this is not a simple install. with the PX4 series the F -> G conversion is simple. beretta intentionally made the PX4 more modular in such manner. the 92 series is not as simple.

Anything that requires more than your hands they recommend a gunsmith for. Reversing the mag release on my CX4 didn't need a gunsmith, just a pair of pliers.
But the manual didn't show how to do it.

agree in principle but in the case of a 92 I would let a 'smith install the G conversion. it's not a mod I would do myself. there are some youtube videos but the process is rather involved.

Spoke with a Beretta tech rep. I asked him about my M9A3, he stated the M9A3 is a universal slide and the average Joe could probably swap it out on their own if they felt comfortable enough to do it. Other models he stated would probably need an armorer. Would depend on your level of confidence I guess.

The conversion is pretty nice, but if you've never worked on a Beretta slide it's tricky to install. The most important thing is to use the gallon ziplock back when removing the safety. There will be detents flying in all different directions from places you had no idea there were detents.

Also, don't reuse the detents from the original safety. The 92FS right side detent is too long and will make the gun permanently on safe.

He made it so much more difficult by leaving the block in. Push the pin out so you need one less thing to fiddle with when installing the kit.

Also, I can't stress enough using a plastic bag to cover everything when you're installing it.

Didn't have an issue keeping the block in. Installed once in my 92a1 and it was stiff. Took it out sanded the barrel and reinstalled. Works perfectly now. As of now I'm preferring Wilsons single sided safety on my fs. Hoping this grows on me. I think my issue is the contour of the left wing. Gonna hit the range tomorrow and give it a workout.
