A friend of mine, first time pistol owner, long time shotgun/rifle owner, would like to buy a Beretta PX4 Sotrm in 0.45ACP.

I have showed him other firearms that I am familiar with like, H&K, Taurus, Glock, SIG, Springfield.

But I am not at all familiar with Beretta's. What do you all think?

Good, bad, indifferent?

Chris

On a more serious note, I've sent a question to Beretta about the availability of Mass. compliant PX4. They answered me that the it is under development in Italy but they don't know when it will be ready[frown]

Maybe that's a sign of progress?

I received this from them in September:

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support. At present, I don't know what the status of the introduction of the PX4 into Mass. is. NY Mass, CA MD an a couple others create tremendous obstycles in getting a gun approved. If you have follow up questions or need further assistance with this issue, please update this incident. Best regards, Beretta Customer Support

I have shot the 9mm one, and I loved it. the safety is a bit to get used to (little bit of a reach for me) but other than that, I thought it was pretty cool (more powerful than a 22lr, less costly than a .223)

Probably yes: they waited about month and a half to answer, so something really had to happen in Beretta [smile]
As I understand, they need to put a loaded chamber indicator or magazine safety that requires some redesign.
