I have this marlin 336w 30-30 in laminate stock and figured it to be my rainy day deer rifle. was wondering what would be a good scope to put on it for these conditions.
Thanks, Bill

I had just bought a Nikon Rimfire for a new 22 and i liked the app so i went for the same but 100 yard parallax versus 50 on the rimfire.

I like BrianWilson's above, but maybe just a tad smaller. Maybe a straight 4x version of that would fit nicely. The Marlin is really more of an iron sights or ghost ring type of gun, but sometimes the eyes need some help.

I have always used leuopold scopes for my hunting scopes(rain or shine). I use butler creek caps(rear only) while hunting in the rain. I just keep firearm pointed down and when needed, just flip open rear cap. Never had an issue and I have shot more than 1deer in pouring rain. Very quiet still hunting in the rain.

I just got a great deal on this at Cabelas and thought it might be great for deer coupled with a nice lever.

Normally $179.99, $99.99 right now. Fogproof and waterproof. Love the BDC reticle used with their Spot On app.

This is what I have on my Henry 44 mag. Not exactly small but a great scope for the money.

1-4 Leupold VX 2 in a DNZ mount.
^^Almost bought one of these when it was on sale for like $200 shipped now it seems like they've discontinued them. Kicking myself.

I just bought and had the Nikon 3x9x40 BDC $99.00 special from the KTP mounted today.seems cabelas and lot have the same scope for the same price

I've seen a lot of cheaper scopes fail in the rain. +1 for Leupold. I've shot all of mine in some pretty horrid conditions and I've never had an issue.

They are for like BB guns.

100 dollars for a rifle optic.. have some respect for yourself.

The retail is $180. I have enough respect for myself to know that a $2000 scope on a rifle i’m hitting soda cans at 300 yards with is stupid. OP said hunting in the rain. Didn’t see your recommendation.

Also, wondering if you realize how strong BB gun scopes are built, You probably never heard of the special kind of recoil a spring piston can generate.

I like Trijicon Accupoint. Light, Durable, illuminated without batteries. The 3x9s can be had for under $500 when on sale.

Not really talking about strength.. more the glass quality is horrible, the turrets don't track properly etc.

Don't claim to be a bb gun expert.. Haven't shot one since I was 6.

If your doing it right, the deer never get a chance to see the price tag, and even if they do, I'm not at all sure they could read it.

I am not sure about the deer, but some of those moose are actually pretty smart.

Cabela's has a couple nice affordable scopes...other than that I would go Vortex. Have had great luck with vortex.
