Selling handguns through Gunbroker - What're the best ways to ship these legally? I know laws have changed fairly recently so want to find the best way that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Approx cost?

Thanks

shipmygun.com is the cheapest.

Long guns can be shipped via USPS, but it isn't cheap.

Handguns have to go through and FFL now because UPS and Fedex both stopped shipping from individuals without an FFL.

@LuvDog thanks for this - follow up question if you've done this recently.. dumb question, so you create the label via shipmygun.com and pay for that label and then you have to bring to FFL to ship out officially? do you know typically how much FFLs are charging for them to ship for you?

Check shipmygun to see if the receiving FFL is already in their system. That's the easiest and fastest. If they are already listed as a preferred FFL, then you pay for a label, they verify everything and then notify you that your label is ready. You print the label. Slap it on the box and find a UPS Hub (not a UPS Store) or schedule a pickup, or hand if off to a driver.

If the receiving FFL isn't a preferred one, then they have to send their FFL info to shipmygun and get in their system. That can take some time.

You are basically shipping via UPS with shipmygun's FFL (They are part of Buds Gun Shop).

It's probably been 6-8 months since I last used them.

Otherwise, I agree with @drgrant - finding a friendly FFL is the next easiest option and not much difference in cost vs shipping yourself.

I'd have to go back and look, but I think the last time I used shipmygun it was around $35-$40. The last time I used USPS it was $80 or $90.
