I was wondering if anybody has heard anything as to whether S&W is gonna have their new Bodyguard 380 on the AG approved firearms rooster. I know it isn't supposed to be released until May, but S&W seems to have nearly all their pistols MA approved so one would think they'd do the same with their new Bodyguard 380, and if so hopefully ahead of it's release date.

There never has been and probably never will be an "AG approved firearms roster". First they have to get the gun tested and approved on the EOPS List, THEN they may self-certify as meeting the AG Regs.

Only way to answer your question is one of the following:

- Wait and see. Usually takes 1-2 years post-release before they get their guns approved . . . if ever, e.g. the M&P 45c is still not on the EOPS List.
- Once the gun is released to Free America, call S&W Sales and ask them if/when they plan on having a MA-compliant model.

Sounds like I'm not up-to-date on something, which is one of the reasons I joined this demographical forum. Could you please elaborate on what you meant, because I was referring to this when I said AG approved firearms roster.

that is the EOPS list.

No one knows what is on the AG's 'list'.

You might want to read that PDF file. Particularly the third paragraph which reads:

Massachusetts licensed firearms dealers should note that the transfers of handguns are also subject to the Attorney General’s Handgun Sales Regulations, 940 CMR 16.00, et seq. Firearms on this Approved Firearms Roster do not necessarily comply with the requirements of the Attorney General’s Handgun Sales Regulations. Information about those regulations, as well as the Enforcement Notice may be obtained from the Office of the Attorney General and may be accessed on the website of the Attorney General (www.ago.state.ma.us).”
The sentence in bold is a clue that the roster and the AG's regulations are two different things.

I'd say it's a good chance that the Bodyguard could be for sale in Mass down the road but as to when that will be that is anyones guess.
