Buy a 10/22 or a Savage Mk II??

The Savage sounds like what you want. The only advantage to the Ruger is the one you don't want to use which is customization options. I must admit the Thompson Center rifles are also nice. So is the Henry Golden Boy.

The one thing I have not been able to find is a LRBHO (last-round-bolt-hold-open) solution for 10/22s. Does anyone know if this is doable?

I read of one somewhere but I believe it was for a .22 handgun, and it will only be good for general practice with a 10 round mag, at least in theory. The guy would load a spent 22lr case in the mag first and then load the rest with new ammo. When the empty shell chambered, the bolt stayed open. The only problem is if you're doing a 10 shot or multiple mag drill. I suppose you can chamber a round and then top off the mag, but if you practice switching mags, you will get 10 shots on the first one, but subsequent mags will only have 9 shots each.

they seem to have what it sounds like your looking for. i haven't found any other options yet. I have no clue on how well it works etc.

seems easy enough to install and modefy the mags for it.

Hmm... interesting. I didn't know that they would modify your existing mags, or that you could use the modified mags in any non-modified 10/22. This may bear looking into.

In addition to offering new CST Modified magazines both individually and with the Auto-Bolt Stop Kits, CST will be happy to modify your existing Ruger magazines. This can be a very affordable option for any extra Ruger magazines you may have on hand. Also remember, as with new modified magazines, once your magazines are modified they will still function fine in any 10/22, with or without an auto-bolt stop installed.

Customer supplied magazines can be modified for $10.95 each plus $5.75 shipping for under $100.00 orders.

That's going to get a bit pricey as I have three LTRs, each with 5 magazines... but I'd probably only modify two of the LTRs. One is purely for use as a loaner.

As far as the AR-22's, which one is preferable out of the Ruger, Sig, and S&W?

Oh, and if you want something more accurate at 100+ yards than a .22, but not as expensive as a .223, then look at the .17HMR and .17H2.

id start with just getting 1 kit, sounds reasonably priced so even if you don't like it its not a big deal. they said they provide a magazine with it i think. test it out, if its works perfect then send them x amount of magazines and order the second kit?

for the price and how it sounds, even without the kit it sounds like they really quality test and tune the mags nice.
