and Texas, permit holders are convicted of misdemeanors or felonies at onesixth
the rate that police officers are convicted.

Well I know when I was young, I thought too many guns was the cause of gun crime. Then I started reading about how concealed carry laws were reducing crime. And logically it made sense - criminals don't want to get shot, they want unarmed victims. It was simply a lack of knowledge that was the problem.

I think the country as a whole is moving more toward 2A rights, but unfortunately our government is moving in the direction of more and more control, and armed citizens are a major impediment to government control.
