We've done themes for the last few years, The first year I got started prepping everyone got giant pails of wheat, beans, drymilk. The next was camping supplies and firestarters. Then came the year of the guns- my husbands favorite. One was Junk silver and money related. Last year he and the girls got their hunter ed class done so that was an easy theme. This year I was hoping to do experiences, send my husband to a moving shooting class- there's one up in Epping that looked great. Unfortunately cars, kids and college ganged up on us and there's not the money in the budget right now. What have you all given your S.O. that was a hit but still practical/prep related? We have been doing this for long enough and with four kids have given a lot of prep presents, so I can't think of something new and fun. Any ideas? Thanks- I don't post much but I lurk every now and then.

I'm making my wife a survival kit/GHB with a Maxpedition fattie organizer to carry in her bag when she goes back to work. It sounds weird, but it's been a fun challenge and I've got about $250 wrapped up in it. I'd be happy to share the list of what I included if you'd like.

Thanks- fishing gear is covered but a license was on my list for Mass and Maine. Forgot all about it. And I'm the den Mom for my son's cubscouts and tonights meeting is first aid- I'd love to hear what you put in your wife's survival kit/GHB bag- I need to check our GOOD big bags- they have been hanging so long they probably still have diapers for my eight year old!

How about Fishing kits, you need to eat when the freeze dried stuff is gone and you covered hunting so..

I started with the Maxpedition fattie pack. I've included a SAK, Spyderco endura, Leatherman wingman, Stanley 4 in 1 screwdriver and a folding razor knife. Two white light sticks, a Streamlight stylus and 4 extra batteries. Big Bic lighter, fire steel and tinder-tin from Emergency Essentials. Write in the rain pad, fisher space pen, black fine point sharpie, red fine point sharpie. Aqua pouch from emergency essentials. 25' of paracord. r Aquatabs. 6 potassium iodide tablets. Small FAK in a zip lock baggie with band aids, advil, gauze pads, iodine wipes and an individually wrapped sterile suture. 2'X2' aluminum foil. Photo copies of a couple of important documents and phone numbers. Plan on including a map of the area once she's back to work and we know where she'll be.

It's been a fun project. I hope she appreciates it.
