Concealed Carry --> How often should you be shooting it at the range?

I shoot my carry gun every time I go to the range. Shoot the crap out of it. If you ever need it, you damn well better be able to use it.

Its not really how much you practice, but how you practice. Shooting 500 a week while sitting at a bench isn't going to help you with skills you need for carrying. 50 rounds a week with proper practice can produce huge results. This is the benefit of talking a class from a good instructor. They will show you what to practice

I shoot my LC9 a lot,and it's my carry gun never had a problem. The only thing make sure you keep it clean, and oiled.

I have a Ruger LC9s as my smallest carry gun. I practice with it less than my Glocks because I carry it less, but it has at least 1000 rounds through it and it's going strong. Your gun should be good for tens of thousands of rounds if you maintain it. At worst you might change the recoil spring or extractor around 5k-10k rounds.

I recommend practicing with your carry gun weekly or biweekly until you are proficient to the point where you can't mess up a draw or jerk any shots by more than 6" or so during fast range work. Once you're at that level of proficiency I'd say you should try to get range work in at least once a month.

Across my 3 carry guns (and the skills are 95% transferable) I've fired about 6-7k rounds of range practice. I'd say around 5k rounds I got to a proficiency level where I can't get it wrong even during unconventional drills.

Don't worry about durability... Good firearms are very durable. Just practice as often as possible until your skills are sharp, then often enough to keep them honed.

I shot a minimum of once a month, and always clean my pistols before putting them away.

What he said.

For the 30 people about that said "shoot the shit out of it"
They also should have said "CLEAN the shit out of it"

Do intelligent training with it though -- shooting 50 rounds doing draw/fire drills or a dot torture once a month is going to be better at building your skill base than just rapid firing 100rds every two weeks with it.
