I didn't put it in the competition section on purpose. Here is why ...

FUDDS fought to try to shut down Steel Challenge at Copicut, an event they have been holding for a little over 3 years. NES members, with the help of other people, fought back and seem to have succeeded at keeping SC going.

If you never tried SC, Copicut is a great place to try it. It is relaxed, people are awesome, and it is basically a range NES get together.

The group of people that run it do an excellent job and will help you. We all have a great time.

The club is also awesome, in a great location.

If you join us, @chris_1001, @zmd and myself usually go to Barrets in West Bridgewater after shooting. You are welcome to join us.

Sign up and have fun:

Bonus reason to sign up ... BROC will be there. I will sign your T-shirts.

@fencer - I am looking at you. Sign up.

I haven't shot there since the late 80's, maybe early 90's between enlistments. The place was awesome. Has it changed much? How do you join?

I don't know what it looked like in the 80s. But it is pretty nice now.

There is a link in the website to join:

I would love to attend this. I have never shot in a match and that seems like a great place to start. Unfortunately the 30th is my sons birthday so I have to pass this time. I joined the practiscore site just now though after seeing this so I will keep an eye out for the next one. I also need to buy 3-4 more mags for my new pistol!

It is all good bring what you have and we will help you.

@zmd only had 2-3 mags his first time. @chris_1001 and myself reloaded while he shot.

Copicut is a great place for a first match.

@Mountain, @Flint @Tyson_M4A1

Adding some people from the meet that might want to go. I got @dezignguy to sign up.

Only one spot left, if you are interested, sign up now!
Mrs. Mountain supports my gun habit, but backing out of anniversary weekend plans might be pushing it a bit. [laugh] What's the next date and how soon can I sign up for it?

Found it- April 27. Already on my calendar. How soon do sign ups open?

Practiscore says when registration opens.

I haven't shot my 22 since area 7 over the summer. I will be happy if as a M I can at least get B times.

Sure thing. Probably get to try a stage too.
Bring your gear and if there’s a spot open you can shoot.
Thank you for the response!

I will plan on attending. I have registered with the website and placed myself on the waiting list. Never took part in a plate challenge. Fairly new to the firearms community. Look forward to seeing everyone there and learning.

Oh geez. You’re gonna fall in deep. You’ll be spending money you don’t have and getting tattoos of @Broc Tuah by the end of the match.

If you do decide to show up with a firearm, leave it in your car, and let the folks running the match know you are a beginner. They will take very good care of you, so just follow their instructions. I’m skipping this one because I’m a wimp and can’t bring myself to register for a match that has “ice breaker” in the title, but I expect to be at most of the rest of them.

"Ice breaker" are the best. Gives you an excuse to tell everyone you haven't shot in a while.

I am NES top shot (fact) and already mentioned I will not shoot well.

I get it, an Ice Breaker match is a great place to test out all the poor performance excuses you plan to use throughout the rest of the shooting season.

😉

Another “Pro Tip” for those that haven’t been to Copicut before, be sure to follow the directions on the PractiScore website. I believe if you just try to put the address into your GPS it will end badly. I think you will end up on a road that is impassable.
Great point.

DO NOT USE QUANAPOAG ROAD.
Also, don't use COPICUT ROAD from the north.

Both roads are a lot of fun if you like offroading.

We could do a bunch of off roading before or after the shoot.

Come in from south of the lake.

someday I'll make one of these matches, and we'll do some off roading on the way in and out.
