I use to be really into contesting but I do not commit the time much anymore.

However I do try to get on the air for the big ones and this has always been a fun contest for me.

I like being able to contact anyone anywhere and I have an A series 2x1 call so with only 26 possible iterations of my prefix I would be considered a rare multiplier (at least in my little mind [wave]).

Still at this hour I have had a fair opening for search and pounce on 20m to eastern Europe and Asiatic Russia. And while l was still pointed out of MA at 5 degrees I just heard VP5M come up on air on the backside of my antenna, his first contact was KH6LC and I could copy them both.

Play here for a while before moving down to 40m.

Get on the air have some fun, contest runs till 23:59 UTC

EDIT: Just after writing the above I work UP0L in Kazakhstan with a 100 watts and I am reminded why I love this hobby and CW as a mode.

Worked about 100 stations running 20/40 low power during the first hour. Using a prefix call is fun. (borrowing club call with NZ1 prefix here) Probably will be fresh meat more towards the end for the multi-op and serious guys.

Little time at the start, Sunday, and at the end.

Being a busy dad with a demanding job I haven't been on the air in a while. But I'll always remember when my 100w rig was in the shop and using my qrp rig and an end fed wire antenna, I made contact with a Russian science station on Antarctica 10,500 miles away on 3W. CW rocks!
