Hi folks,
I am a Marine Corps veteran, I am now entering federal law enforcement, and I am an avid shooter. Unfortunately for my hobby, I am a New York State resident.
I am trying to find out if I can set up a NFA firearms trust in CT as a non-resident. I'm interested in buying short barreled rifles and someday a sound suppressor. What I would like to do is include my relative, a CT state resident, on the trust. He would store my weapons and care for them. The firearms would never leave CT. I now live on the border of CT, near Danbury, but I cannot up and move because I would lose my NYS pistol permit (NY does not issue permits to non-residents, and I am not covered by HR-218...yet).
Can anyone tell me if this is feasible? Can anyone refer me to a CT or NY attorney who is knowledgeable in NFA trusts?
Thanks
Dave
