I just got a Mauser in trade and I was wondering if anyone might know anything about it. The barrel is stamped Ed Budd and it was built off a German 98 receiver. The bolt and receiver are about the only thing original. Custom trigger that is adjustable, hand checkered stock with fleurdelis details out of a nice piece of walnut but is made for a lefty as the cheekpiece is on the right side not the left. Tang safety and the barrel is in .308Win with a mag block and magazine spring and floor plate made for .308. 26" barrel. It also has a Weaver 1.5-5 scope that is rectangle in the back (rounded sides, flatish top and bottom) and the rest of the tube is 1" all the way, so no bell up front. I shot it yesterday and the trigger is BEAUTIFUL! I suspect that to have a rifle made today of this quality, you would be talking $4-5,000. I have to take pix still, but I thought someone might have heard of Ed Budd and know about his custom rifles.
