Custom Spas 12 on GB

I wouldn't be worried about it, they do it on three gun setups all the time. It would probably even out if you put on the "diverter" franchi made for it, but I don't know exactly what those do.

I shot one of these about 20 years ago, I wasn't impressed.
It looks cool, and Arnold used one in the first Terminator movie, but it's way too heavy, and only operates as a semi with stout loads.
Lighter loads need to be pumped, which requires much effort to overcome the friction.
I remember the magazine reviews on these back in the 80's, they weren't very flattering.
One gun writer wrote "the pump action on this shotgun has all the mechanical advantage of a disc brake" [laugh]
The one in the GB ad has the fixed pistol grip stock, the one I fired, like the one Arnold used in the movie, has the top folding stock with the "Shepards Crook".

Yeah, I wouldn't make any argument that the Spas is the best or most tactical shotgun or anything like that.

I used to have one, and as it goes for the weight I found it manageable. Sure its heavier than a pump, but if you've shouldered an M1 Garand, they are similar. I also found it to be fairly well balanced.

Then again I'm used to a 20lb rifle for highpower, so it really depends on who is behind the trigger. Mine also had the solid stock, which I found comfortable.

Overall, I'd agree its a collectors piece. Its got the movies and video games aspect and the cool look. Also if you consider yourself a shotgun collector, I'd say you should own one of these at least for a certain period of time. However, that may just be me.

I have one back home in Washington State. I am going to be reunited with it soon. Operation is a PITA, if you do it wrong it "jams" on the safety. If you get the wrong model the safety could kill someone. I have a fixed stock model, want a folder/hook to join it some day.

My go to shotty when SHTF? No. Fun to pull out of the safe and show like minded individuals? Yup!

The look and idea of them is cool but never heard any rave reviews.

Parts are hard to find/expensive right?

Yea real hard, Carlsons shotgun chokes used to have all the parts. I think that they sold what they had left to Numrich Gun Parts.
They are cool to look at like the Striker and the USAS but not too practical in the real world. I had a Striker and a SPAS that I sold and now have a few 590A1s that use and like better.

I have the little brother to the semi. Mine is pump only. Its amazing how many parts are interchangeable between the guns. There's a web site devoted to these guns that I find very informative.
