I've been thinking I could use a hammer-fired semi in the stables, and the CZ lineup definitely has my attention.

If the circulating rumors are true and some of these pistols become compliant (at some indeterminate future point), their instructor discount makes a VERY compelling case for getting one. I haven't seen any and they don't really get talked about very much.

What are peoples' personal experiences with the 75 & all of its variations (B, BD, PCR, Compact, SP-01, etc.)?

Screw compliance, just look for, and get what you want.

They are all pretty good guns. The 85 Combat and the SP-01 Shadow variants are all nice because they have no firing pin safety- so they have somewhat better trigger pulls.

I had an SP-01 Shadow and had to sell it to pay some bills. It was an incredible handgun, though. It ran like a top.

I'm absolutely with you on that one (as evidenced by my Gen4 19), I just figured without that caveat someone would come right back with the "they're not compliant" line.

I've always had Sigs, but they didn't fit my hand very well, so after a lot of research I decided on going with the CZ, more specifically the CZ CTS Long Slide, which I purchased from Damascus Guns in Virginia. As CZ's largest dealer, their price for this custom firearm was actually cheaper than than the Custom Shop by $170. The CTS is a hand fit Custom gun, with all of the options. It has a custom fit long slide, fiber optic front sights, a competition adjustable rear sight, extended firing pin, competition springs, ambi safety, and a 3.5 pound single action trigger. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other options. CZ's have a low bore axis, the slide actually rides in the frame. This low bore axis assists with accuracy. I believe all of the CZ's except for the Phantom, are steel. Every person who shoots it comments on the ergonomics and incredible accuracy. Check out this video from the Shot Show. CZ's provide exception quality and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

If it was me then it's total BS because I'm pretty sure the CZ rep I talked to just said whatever ti get me off his back.

BTW I just got a CZ75 P-01 and I'm pretty much in love with it.
I'm also waiting for the day these go compliant so I can blow a few G's.

Any CZ owner near metro-west want to introduce me? :-) I've also heard great things about them but never actually held one. I'll bring the ammo and one or more of my toys for you to play with...

cheers,
Chuck

Ditto. I'll host @ HSC.

Well, I've got a CZ-75B and I may or may not be the one who bought Mike's SP-01 Shadow Target [wink]. I'm down to shoot plus I'm free from work all next week if either of you are serious about giving them a spin. I've never seen HSC either, so I'm definitely interested to check that out.

Damn you! [smile]

Hmmmmm. I can definitely make something work.....

I have a two-tone .40 S&W, CZ-75B and the frame looks like it's alloy.

Zappa, it's gotta be an oddball, then, as far as I know most of the CZs are steel. If it's an alloy, it isn't a light one.

There is no way a standard CZ-75B at 39 ounces or so is anything but steel. It definitely does not have a lightweight frame.

OK, you're right, my bad.
It hasn't been out of the safe in years, but I pulled it out tonight, stripped it down and gave it the magnet. It sticks.
I admit I was fooled by the metal finish, it really looks like an aluminum alloy.
Must be a process not allowed in the US by the EPA [rolleyes]

+1 a 1911 Government Model Colt 45 ACP weighs 39 oz.

I believe a couple of the compact models (P-01, PCR) are alloy frames, whatever that alloy is.......

That certainly is an interesting finish. I would have expected something like nickel plating or something like that, maybe, but not that. I wonder what the heck it is.

Hasn't been out of the safe in years? Damn! A gun like that needs to be fired. A lot. [grin]

I knew some of the smaller ones were alloy, that's why I said "most" :) The full size frames have always been steel, or at least something resembling it.

Get the real thing. The TZ is just a cheap copy.

I've had nothing but good luck with my Tanfoglio's. I don't have a CZ, so I can't really compare them though. I'm just a big fan of the design/ergonomics.

The Tanfoglio offers a lot more ammo choices too (specifically the 10MM).

Hats off to GreyEyes and his buddy Mark (who's on here somewhere) for making the trek out to Harvard yesterday to let me fondle some CZ goodness. I have to say I really came away impressed and there could very likely be one of these in my not-too-distant future.

A little short range practice, some plate rack embarrassment (for everyone), and finishing up on the shotgun range just for kicks. Lot's o' fun!

My favorite pistol is my Action Arms AT-84, a very well made CZ clone (pic is not my gun, but mine looks identical). This pistol was accurate right out of the box. It gets a little finicky about the ammo it likes to eat - cheap WalMart UMC ammo will give me FTE's about every 4th magazine. Better quality ammo never fails, and it seems to prefer Winchester Silvertips, I can drive a tack with those. I think I'd like to get one or two more of these as well, perhaps a genuine CZ. This one has been a great performer, though.

My Tanfoglio TZ-75 runs extremely well and I usually get people asking me about it at the range. No one really knows about them and they are shocked to find out how well it's made. Now the problem begins, trying to find one for you. [thinking]

I bought one of the early TZs in .40 and it was a POS (rear sight fell out of its dovetail, slide stop broke, and the trigger bar broke). Some friends bought five TZs in .38 Super. Out of the five guns there were three different bore diameters. This was a long time ago. Perhaps the newer guns are better built.
