CZ Evo 3 pistol

Thanks. Need to move out of here.

Well, there's the "not caring" option, or the SBR option, but even if you could figure out how to get one SBRed in MA you still have the magazine issue to deal with, unless you don't care about that, either.

I thought it needs to have a stock to be considered a rifle? Wouldn't it be compliant if it had a 10 round magazine?

AW=
a semiautomatic pistol
that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of--

(i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
(ii) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip,
or silencer;
(iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits
the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned;
(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
(v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm; and

Here's a good link to Goal's website that explains more: http://www.goal.org/masslawpages/awfacts.html

Edit for example.

Unless they are really light. There are a few that come in under weight. Just for instance my buddy's AR pistol standard build with a 10in barrel with no handgaurd came in well over 50oz.

Neither of us are from MA so don't worry guys.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does the wording "manufactured weight" come into play... was there any lee-way pre 7/20 to get a light-weight, bare-bones model then add features which would bring it over 50oz?

[rolleyes]

If 90% of the rules horses on this forum don't know all the ins and outs of the "Assault Pistols" the traffic cop isn't going to either. He gonna whip a scale out of his trunk?

"Its preban"

"Ok"

IMHO the average "cop on the side of the road" is not likely your problem in Massachusetts for a gun owner with an LTC. The real threat vector is some kind of involuntary seizure. Say for example you get whacked with a "surprise" 209A because of that hot, but crazy broad you dated last month; cops take all your guns and you happen to live in a town that has a douche/anti LEO on staff and they want to write you up on stupid shit. Or you pop a bad guy with your lawfully carried handgun and the police show up to steal your shit because you're under indictment until the trial is over, etc, etc, so on. It's the stupid stuff people don't think about that can bite you in the ass. A lot of police (the better officers, IMHO) don't really give a shit about stuff like that; "Oh he had a license, he's OK", end of story. The problem is theres a statistically significant number of douche LEOs out there. Look at the Comm2A case with Gardner as an example of this- they took someones shit (preban magazines) refusing to give it back because "theyre not sure if htey are preban" etc. I've heard of a ton of incidents where this AWB stuff is a non issue, on the other hand, if someone is part of that % where a douche LEO is involved in the investigation, you can end up, up the creek, with no paddle, in short order.

Of course there is another overarching argument that, in this bleeping state, if the DA/ADA really wants to screw you, they will do so, and they will get away with it- they can put you in a position where you will lose; the only difference will be "to what degree" you will lose. I've seen this on more than one occasion, in one case it happened to a very close friend of mine who just about lost everything but managed to avoid becoming a PP by the skin of his teeth.

The only consistent advice I can impart on any of this stuff, is the cheapest way out is always to avoid any issues with the police at nearly any and all costs. Particularly if you're not a person of big money and influence. Keeping your nose clean, and taking various 4A "buffering" actions to keep peoples noses out of things they don't belong in, go a long way.

I know what your saying.. but in both cases you just don't give them the CZ Pistol or anything else you have that may be questionable.

How many of you have had the Sheriff come to your house to do a seizure? Well I have.. They don't have an inventory of your stuff. The guy was nervous as hell and didn't even want to be there. I gave him 1 old pump shotgun and some shells, he wrote out a slip and left. There are a million things you can do to get around that if your not wanting to hand over something.

The LE and Court system in this state is impotent. I know cause I work with them all the time. Its not a knock on anyone that is LE or part of the court and I doubt they are offended because if they work within that system they probably agree with me.

Basically if I wanted a CZ pistol.. which i dont. I would find a way to have one and wouldn't bat an eye.

It's not usually a sheriff in MA that does this, it's usually the local PD. And they sometimes come with the FA-10 printout of all the shit that they think you own. . Knowing what I know now I would never have anything in that system, but most of us its a little too late for that. Also most people in MA don't wear big kid pants, and they're going to hand over all their shit when the police come.

Also, if they are pricks, there's another law which lets them hit you with a felony for holding out on them, although I've never really heard of it
being enforced. in a direct sense.

They are but they also know enough to be dangerous. There's a bunch of former LTC holders twiddling their thumbs right now because they got whacked on safe storage (and if they got lucky, they cwof'ed out and are only suitability disabled) or they have some 209A baby momma bullshit that they can't get vacated. It's impotent in a lot of ways but annoying enough to be dangerous to your liberty, in other ways.

Basically if I wanted a CZ pistol.. which i dont. I would find a way to have one and wouldn't bat an eye.

Same here (and I could keep it in a legal location, etc. ) but for the pant shitter types who are afraid of their own shadow, even potentially violating the law is not something they should be getting into. Basically if someone has to ask this question about whether or not a particular gun is legal, they're not informed enough WRT risks that they shouldn't even thinking about buying it to begin with. No offense to the OP, but that is basically the reality.

It was the sheriff in this case and it was for a 209A. The guy that showed had the tone of "Just give me something so I can gtfo of here"

K I am done hijacking.

Out of curiosity do you know if the crazy broad filed with the sheriff's office somehow? Seems unusual to me, unless you live in like west bum**** or something and they don't have a full time PD and jobbed it out to the sheriffs office or something.

It was one of the bigger cities in MA. I live in the hood :). And it was a group of little gang bangers that tried to jump me. They didn't do so hot and their mom filed A/B charges and 4 Restraining orders.

If I had to guess its the city I live in the PD is so busy that the Sheriff fills in for some of that work.
