DAO or DA/SA carry options in MA

I use the slide stop. Its a habit I simply cannot break after 27 years of competitive pistol shooting. I was stating how I have been instructed many times in many defensive pistol courses.

The I guess we are in violent agreement. [cheers]

what about a 1911?

not double action but you could carry cocked and locked. not going to go bang withe the safety engaged. Granted you might have to sink a little extra money into it beyond the purchase to have it tuned up a bit.

I've considered a CCO size 1911. I have a SIG P220 that is similar in size to a 1911 commander and it's a tough gun to conceal because the grip is so big. I'm also on the fence about carrying cocked and locked.

In researching I came across the Beretta PX4 Storm subcompact. Unfortunately it looks to be in the class of guns that will never be for sale at a dealer in MA and don't come available to often.

If you look hard enough you can find most anything in MA...just takes a lot of patience and a willingness to pay a LOT more than the gun's worth.

I believe a friend of mine had one of those. I remember trying the trigger and not being impressed. But that was a few years back, so I might be misremembering.

The fire control mechanism in the 250C is common from full size down to subcompact, and it the FCM that carries the serial number.
Grips can be swapped for thicker or thinner within a frame size, but going from compact to subcompact requires a new slide and barrel regardless of caliber interchange (which you can also do.)
The trigger pull is long and hard, with a long reset. The FCM design also does not lend itself to performing trigger jobs... There's little room for improvement.

I have a range day scheduled for Sunday morning. My club is an hour and fifteen minutes from Uxbridge, tho. If you don't mind the drive you are free to take it for a test drive.
Mass Firearms School is where I bought my P250C... They are 30 minutes up rt 16 from Uxbridge, and I believe they will let you try a range gun before buying one. (Pay for the ammo, I think.)
Check what they have available for a test drive, and what they have in stock.

Thanks for the offer but a newborn at home makes scheduling range time a challenge. I might be able to sneak away to MFS and give it a try.

Exactly why I don't own any Glocks. I did a search of the classifieds and only saw 1 ever listed.

I recently paid out the ass for a NIB gen4 glock 30 but I justified it by really wanting it [laugh]

sometimes you find them cheaper on armslist or gunbroker.
