i do store my rifles in this config.

LOL. all have the triggers pulled and stored neatly in the box.

but for pistols? nope.

i used to worry about it, only with my 1911, but even that one remained in the carry config (cocked & locked) for weeks at a time.

I don't always chamber the same round. Honestly the only reason I was un-chambering a round is i thought i had to store it in my safe unload. (from a legal stand point)

You do have to store it in your safe, but you don't need to unload it.
