Was 'dry firing' the BG380 and was thinking I might try to shoot it with the middle finger? Feels like I may have a better grip on it. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and what were the results?

As long as your index finger doesn't get in the way of the slide. If it does then you will need to shoot only with the middle finger in any case :)

We had some chucklehead who used to spam here that advocated that. He had these lame guide attachments he put on his handgun so he could favor firing them with his middle finger. He also used to post these pics of these guns with the trigger guards hacked off of them, etc.... [laugh]

Then again, if it works for you to overcome some kind of physical issue with firing the handgun, and you shoot better with it, then by all means.... gotta do what you gotta do.

He used to say that you could get a stronger grip by "pinching" the gun between your extended index finger and your thumb. Personally, I think it's a load of BS, but YMMV.

I have a hard time with the grip on mine and thought of trying that grip but if i were to ever draw the gun in self defense it would not come out of my pocket in that position. I haven't found a pocket gun that I can comfortably hold but if i ever have to use it it will most likely be inside 5ft or so and grip won't matter so much.

I would advise against it unless you had some extenuating situation (like a student I had that had no trigger finger, he did just fine but he had years to practice the isolation) . The design of The flexor tendon system of the hand makes it difficult to isolate the middle finger as you can with the pointer finger. If you notice its very difficult to move your middle finger without the ring finger and the pinky moving. It is also difficult to grip the pistol tightly with the pinky and ring finger and use light pressure with the middle finger on the trigger.

But I am with Mike - Do what you got to do, or go buy a gun that fits.
Good Luck

There is a video out there of a guy shooting a 1911 with his toes. He looked like he was doing just fine.

I shoot one of these with my middle finger.
No ejection port problems to worry about.
The shape is so awkward, and the trigger pull is way heavy, using the middle finger is the best way to fire it.
